No-Bake Homemade Granola Bars

Alright, folks, listen up. Last week I talked about healthy alternatives to junk food. I realized that while I talked about homemade foods, I never gave any recipes. So, today I will be sharing my super secret granola bar recipe.

These granola bars are amazing. Honestly, I crave them constantly. They are full of fibre, iron, and protein. All the good stuff. And the recipe is super simple, so you have no excuse to not make them. They’re also NO BAKE.

Here’s what you will need:

¾ – 1 c brown sugar

1/2 c corn syrup

1/2 c honey

1 tsp vanilla

1 c peanut butter

1 ½ c rice cereal

1 ½ c oats

1 c raisins

½ c fruit/ bran ect

½ c sunflower seeds

2 Tbsp sesame seeds

*you can replace the nuts, seeds, or dried fruit with whichever you like (chia seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etc. Just make sure to keep to dry to wet ratio the same

In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients. Then, in a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar and corn syrup.  Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Once you have remove the pot from the heat, mix in the peanut butter until smooth. Then, blend into the dry mix, until well combined.  Lay some wax paper on a 9″ pan, then press in the mixture. Cool the mixture in the fridge until hard. Keep in fridge for up to two weeks (though I doubt it will last that long ;)).

And that’s it now you have some healthy snacks that you can take to school, work, or on a hike!
